./about

Decode explores topical issues of the Post-Digital and hacktivism, data security or cyber laws originating from Cyberculture, a term that has several meanings, but can be understood as the sociocultural form that arises from an exchange relationship between society, culture and new technologies Cybernetic communities are expanding and popularizing the use of the Internet and other communication technologies, thus enabling greater proximity between people from all over the world, whether through collaborative construction, multimodalities and / or hypertextuality.

Cyberspace, when functioning as a new place of sociability, ends up giving rise to new forms of social relations, with their own codes, structures and specificities. However, these new codes are not completely new, but a reformulation of the already known possibilities of sociability, both of virtual space / time, and of its social agents, whose capacity for metamorphosis is carried to the last consequences. In this way we use this platform to let you know a little of our special edition contents and provide you with access to the decoding of various topics of interest in the cyber world. DECODE's raises discussions presenting arguments, information and examples taken from different areas so that only you can freely and spontaneously decide the successes and errors of each theme presented by our magazines.

n1. Innocent or guilty? The Hacktivism Dilemma

Hacktivism is a form of non-violent digital activism in which the main reason is not personal financial gain. Instead, hacktivist campaigns aim to achieve political, social or religious justice in line with the group's cause.

For most people, hackers manipulate and violate information that is supposed to be kept under lock and key. If they seek freedom of information and transparency by eliminating secrets through digital espionage, they are already approached as geniuses of technology. Strategies, which often circumvent ethics governed by cyber laws, make them remain anonymous.

Whether or not hacktivism fulfills its purpose is still debatable. But its contribution to Activism and to improving the security of Information Systems is undeniable. Activism has gained strength never seen before. Corporations and governments today are concerned with their moral integrity, not only hiding "bad data", but avoiding the creation of such data since if they exist they can be stolen and no information system is 100% secure. DECODE's objective is to raise discussions presenting arguments, information and examples drawn from different areas. As it is a non-linear theme, the reader will be responsible for evaluating and drawing his own conclusions.
